The benefits of auricular therapy and ear seeds

One summer morning in Boston, I was in my hotel room about to get ready for the day. As I got out of the shower, not realizing that water had run on the bathroom floor, I slipped and fell. I quickly managed to grab the sink faucet to catch some of my fall. It was the scariest moment being that I was away from home and without my family. I was nauseous, I had a panic attack, and I didn’t even know what was hurting me. My whole body went numb.

Lying on the bathroom floor, I mustered the courage to stand up and figure out what had happened. I was fine, I was stable and being a yoga teacher I used my breathing tools to help me come back to the present moment and relax.

After I returned to New York City, I began to experience creaking, popping, and sharp pain in my shoulder and elbow. I was afraid to find out what might be broken or wrong in my arm, since I have never suffered a physical injury. I was terrified because I needed my arm for my career as a full time yoga teacher.

After visiting the orthopedist, I was diagnosed with a SLAP tear in my labrum. I was told it would heal with physical therapy so I went for it. However, the pain was undeniable and I felt it every moment of my day. I couldn’t turn away from it because I was forced to go from balance and crazy yoga poses to nothing and it really caused my anxiety. At that point, I knew I needed a quick fix and turned to ear seeds to help relieve myself.

Ear therapy, also known as ear acupuncture, originated in traditional Chinese medicine. Ear seeds are tiny metallic beads placed with dots on your ear that represent different organs. These seeds stay in place for 5-7 days, allowing them to have a prolonged effect on your body. They help regulate the flow of energy through the meridians or pathways in your ear to provide relief for all types of pain.

Ear seeds have been so beneficial to me in helping to relieve symptoms of physical pain and anxiety. These tiny seeds press on targeted pressure points to relieve you of the problem you are having. It’s basically acupressure. These seeds are like tiny crystal stickers.

Many people suffer from chronic back pain or body pain usually due to stress, injury or trauma. They say taking an anti-inflammatory like Motrin or Advil will help reduce symptoms and in turn reduce pain. Many people don’t know that pain relievers work on neurotransmitters in the mind. Our brain senses the amount of pain and then tells our body to feel it. This is also the reason why many people have a higher pain threshold than others. It starts in the mind. There are so many alternative healing methods in the world today and the one that has helped me a lot is ear therapy or ear seeds. I highly recommend it to anyone with anxiety or chronic pain. It really helped me until I started to heal.
